Description of the Bird
Small white bird with yellow bill, some rusty wash on the wings and face, grayish streaks on the scapulars. Bird was initially flushed off the road with a Horned Lark but responded to playback by cirlcing our heads and singing. Landed on the post where we photographed it for over an hour. Bird sang its phrases multiple times.
Similar Species Discussion
With a Horned Lark for comparison. Extensive white on the wings and pure white belly with no streaks on the flanks eliminates Lapland Longspur.
