Both adults swimming in the pond. No calls observed. There was also a ring-neck duck at the pond, but no other birds present. Both has the yellow face feathers and dark body feathers.

Similar Species Discussion

I first thought, before looking through my lens, that it was a pied-billed grebe, just based on face shape. But, those face feathers are very distinct, and I knew right away it was an eared grebe.

Previous Experience

I know Western Grebes quite well, but this was my first Eared Grebe.
