Description of the Bird

One male in breeding plumage and one female. They were swimming together. The only other waterfowl observed were Canada Geese.

Similar Species Discussion

When I saw the female, I initially thought it was a Mallard, since I had seen some the day before around Kremmling. But once I saw the male, I was sure it was a Cinnamon Teal. No other waterfowl is completely reddish-brown like that.

Previous Experience

I have completed multiple mid-winter waterfowl counts, and I look for waterfowl during the migration every year.
