Description of the Bird
I first heard this species' distinctive song and was taken aback for this elevation/county. It was singing repeatedly (recording submitted). It eventually came closer where I could obtain excellent views and photos (included). Distinctive white eye with bright yellows "spectacles", green crown, fading into gray nape and side of neck, back green, two bright wing bars, yellow flank with white underside from chin to lower abdomen.
I believe this i a first Teller County record.
Similar Species Discussion
White eye and other plumage distinctions and song separated this vireo from other vireo species.
Previous Experience
I have seen and heard this bird from breeding grounds in Midwest to fall/winter migrants in FL and TX.
