Description of the Bird
Large bulky accipiter, immature Northern Goshawk plummage, strong white supercilium, wingtips do not cover long tail , wide wavy banded brown and black tail with thin white outline, pale yellow and brown streaked nape, bright white spots on brown back. Somewhat pointy wings. Flew from juniper hedgerow to Cottonwood tree. Close to second much smaller Coopers hawk for size comparison.
Similar Species Discussion
Immature Red Tailed Hawk, head shape and color not correct, tail too long, bands too wavy and spaced out.
