long narrow wings

white breast and belly, top of head and neck
dark eye stripe
tops of tail feathers show white/dark bands when flared
finger-like flared wingtips
large hooked beak
larg talons
Behaviors: full-body contact with water/near submersion when diving for bass

harassed by magpies into leaving perch

Additional Information

Comments: I'd never observed osprey in Colorado until 4 years ago when a single bird stopped at this site for a few days in early May. Single bird sighted following year and a pair came through last year. The birds pass through again in the Fall.
