Habitat

Open area, south of the Fort Collins landfill on Tribley on the top of a power pole.

Viewing Conditions

Optics:  Camera & bino
Distance:  1 mile, I saw it as soon as I turned the corner on Tribley and snapped photos until Elaine wanted to open a door and get out, it flew.
Light:  Bright light

Description of the Bird

I spotted it from the start of the road. Perched on power pole. Appeared to be a juvenile bird..

Similar Species Discussion


A prairie falcon is similar however, it is much smaller than the Gyrfalcon, along with a facial markings are different.
