Description of the Bird
This White-throated Sparrow was a white-stripped adult with bright yellow lores. It's plumage was typical for the species in breeding season. I will leave it to the photos to provide a descriptor of the details.
Steve and Deb found the bird at first glance outside the dining room window about ten feet away and about four feet below. The White-throated Sparrow usually fed on the ground taking sunflower seed, cracked corn and red milo. It also foraged in Engelmann Spruce and Sub-alpine Fir. It fed on the ground along with Pine Grosbeaks, many Gray-headed Juncos, a single Song Sparrow, Steller's Jays, two Band-tailed Pigeons, Mountain and Black-capped Chicadees. Also present were three species of nuthatches, three species of woodpeckers, Broad-tailed Hummingbirds, American Robin, American Crow, and an American Dipper singing in the stream 36 feet away.
We did not hear vocalizations from the White-crowned Sparrow, nor did we see agonistic actions toward the other birds.
Similar Species Discussion
The bright yellow patch in the lores separates the White-throated Sparrow from the White-Crowned Sparrow and the Golden-crowned Sparrow.
Previous Experience
I have seen and photographed White-throated Sparrow feed along with White-crowned Sparrow and Harris's Sparrow (three Zonotrichia) at our home outside Palisade, CO.

The marker on the map shows an approximation of the location of this report. The marker is generated using a prioritized Logic base:
1) If the observer has entered coordinates, they will be shown.
2) No specific coordinates are available but the location is mappable.
3) A generic location with no specific coordinates is mapped to the center of the reported county.
