Description of the Bird
Yellowish below and gray above, streaked brown below, white wing-bars, tiny pointed bill, and small size even for a warbler. Many quality photos were taken.
Similar Species Discussion
Other warblers were considered but only the Cape May had all the field marks this warbler had. Again photos were studied and compared with photos and painting in field guides as well as eBird photos.
Previous Experience
Most of our experience with this species has been wintering birds south of the US. We have had experience with nearly all of North American warblers.
I am reporting this species as a Montezuma County 1st and only the second eBird record for all of western Colorado. It is indeed a rare species in the west of Colorado.
