Description of the Bird
The bird was a cormorant, which was significantly smaller than the Double-crested Cormorants that were nearby. It had a much smaller body and bill, but also showed a quite long tail: as least as long as those on the D-c Cormorants. It had a small white area at the back of the bill, which extended down a very small distance below the bill. It had a conspicuous green eye. The neck showed some brown feathers and was not totally black, which is why I think it was an immature bird that hadn't quite reached adult plumage.
Similar Species Discussion
The only real alternative in Colorado is Double-crested Cormorant, and it was significant smaller than that species in both body and bill size. Would be really small compared to a Great Cormorant, and showed features not consistent with the West Coast Cormorants.
Previous Experience
I see many hundreds of D-c Cormorants every year, and have seen many hundreds of Neotropic Cormorants in the tropics.

Location Map
The marker on the map shows an approximation of the location of this report. The marker is generated using a prioritized Logic base:
1) If the observer has entered coordinates, they will be shown.
2) No specific coordinates are available but the location is mappable.
3) A generic location with no specific coordinates is mapped to the center of the reported county.
