Description of the Bird
Bird was of similar size to the six Snowy Egrets and slightly larger than the Cattle Egret. They all flew in at the same time at the edge of the lake. The Little Blue Heron had a reddish brown neck and head and slate blue body. Have photo and observed through binoculars from about 60 feet away.
Behavior: All the birds were preening and calm.
Call: None
Plumage: Breeding
Similar Species Discussion
Eliminated Great Blue, too small, wrong color. Looked exactly like Little Blue Herons from my days in Kansas.
