Description of the Bird
Bird flew off ground, flying away from me, and then landing in tree facing away. It soon shifted position giving me a side/frontal 3/4 view.
Back rusty, approaching that of Veery. Sides and flanks moderate buff; no gray. Chest lightly spotted, washed in buff. Face buffy with buffy eyering. Size and shape similar to that of OB Thrush
Similar Species Discussion
Olive-backed Thrush: Would have duller upperparts, gray sides, bolder and more extensive spotting beneath. Bird had a uniform look, including face and chest, that is lacking in OB Thrush, which shows contrast between buff and olive-brown regions.
Veery: would have gray flanks, gray face
