Description of the Bird
Small grey-ish bird, 4 inches. Fast movment through foliage. Distinctive light eyes. Coming down from the willow tree in front yard to forage in the backyard grape vines and shrubs. Landed on the porch one foot from me. There are two to four birds.
Similar Species Discussion
Wrentit. Eliminated by call. Female with yellow eyes, and male with brown auriculars. No songs sang. Does not appear to be wrentit. However no large flock was observed.
Resources Used
Optics, NWF field guide.
Previous Experience
First sighting. "Life lister". Have observed Wrentit in Shasta California. The call had me looking for a humming bird, then was thrown off when I saw the two birds land and start foraging. Watched for several hours.
